KAIROS GOES TO ROME
Our film has been selected in competition at the Tertio Millenio Film Festival, 2018.
The festival is organised by the oldest film publication in Italy and sponsored by the Papal council (the Vatican).
It will take place at the historic Sala Trevi (the national film heritage centre of Italy), and the Filmotec Vaticana (the film library of the Vatican).
Past filmmakers who have screened their work at the fest include The Dardenne Brothers, Wim Wenders, Aleksandr Sokurov and Walter Salles to name a few. We are honoured to be invited and celebrate the world premiere of our film in such an incredible location. So proud of our amazing cast and crew - you are all beautiful humans! We know this is just the beginning of a very special journey for Kairos.

KAIROS WINS THE XXII TERTIO MILLENIO FILM FEST
In a strong line-up of powerful cinema from across the globe, 'Kairos' has been awarded Best Film of the XXII Tertio Millenio Film Festival in Rome, Italy.
It's been an incredible journey over three years in the making. To have made it this far on a small budget is a testament to the power of the film community and public in Australia. This film was proudly born and produced in Western Sydney. The cast and crew believed in the project so much and this result is reflective of all of our efforts.
Ninety per cent of Kairos' budget was self funded by the producers (a husband and wife team), and their families. The Australian public also showed great support for the film after the wonderful Lisa Wilkinson gave Chris Bunton and our indie feature some prime-time exposure on The Sunday Project.
Here is the jury's statement regarding their decision to award Best Film of the festival to Kairos (Translated from Italian):
"Kairos undermines the stereotype of Down syndrome as a physical, mental, psychological, relational and social limit. But Kairos also shows us the different levels of love and friendship, with all the distortions that human weakness brings with it.
Finally, it reveals to us how one can love one's neighbour only by loving oneself first: the true existential strength lies in the courage to be faithful to one's values and visions, to accept defeats and learn from them, in self-love that leads to evolve, to redeem oneself, to improve and to be a good example of life for others".
We are overwhelmed by their response. Can't wait to screen it back in Australia very soon!
